R2 + UNCOMPROMISING FUNCTIONALITY and VALUE!
R2 PLUS is the new 2025 version of our Boom in 100% carbon. The main difference in this new version lies in the width of the terminal, now brought to 14.5cm, almost 1cm more than the previous version. Thanks to this modification, we have further expanded the angle that creates a new geometry between the front and rear parts. This ensures a more uniform traction of the sail and a better profile (without the sail resting on the opposite arm of the Boom), making the equipment more manageable and less tiring regardless of whether it is wave, freestyle, or freewave.
Another modification made on the new R2+ is in the inverted assembly of the outhaul system of the terminal for trimming the Clew, by reversing the assembly there is less stress on the joint when landing from jumps.
In this new version, the solid rubber anti-abrasion strips on the shoulders of the Boom have been extended to resist wear and prevent damage to the grip caused when rigging on rough surfaces and asphalt.
For the 140-190 as rigidity grade, we have chosen the Standard (FL) (the Boom Hatropina can be available with different rigidity grades), while for the 145-195 we have chosen the grade High Stiffness (HS) which can be used by heavy riders and with larger sail ranges.

BENEFIT:
- Excellent quality standards
- Super Rigidity
- Lightness
- Reduced diameter SLIM grip
- Customization
- Lighter rig
- Better control
- Superior maneuverability and comfort
- Longer sessions / Less fatigue
- Reliability
Customization:
The Boom Hatropina can be available on request in two different rigidities, Standard (FL) and High Stiffness (HS), the choice depends on the rider's weight, sail range, and rider's needs.
Materials:
Strictly pre-impregnated UD (unidirectional) carbon is used, and exclusively PAN High Strength (HS) with a modulus value that resides in the threshold between normal modulus and intermediate modulus (IM).
UD instead of carbon fabric, for the undeniable superiority of its final properties (rigidity, strength, weight, reactivity, less fatigue from cyclic loading). What is the challenge of UD carbon? It is the delicate nature, difficulty in handling it, and the meticulousness required to apply it correctly, (therefore requiring very high know-how and higher costs) which is why practically no manufacturer of Boom uses it
On our Boom, you will never see the distinct shiny carbon weave that you see on windsurfing Boom, nor interruptions in the fiber alignment within the fabric.
Curve:
The super ergonomic curve is oriented towards maximum driving comfort with a natural grip and wrist curve in all conditions.
Handle:
We use the Chinook Pro1 Head handle, one of the best and safest on the market, with an integrated adapter, it fits both SDM and RDM masts.
Clips:
Double pin clips with positive lock. We mount longer pins with molded pin wells, reinforced and thicker tubes around the pin holes. This ensures that the pins are laterally anchored in their seat and cannot wobble and transfer breaking loads to its root or the clip carrying it. The arms boast pin-to-hole tolerances lower than other Boom and much more durable.
Clamp area coated with silicon carbide (SiC) to combat abrasion from sand ingress. The PA sealing bushing keeps sand and water out of the Boom and protects the end from wear from torsional and axial loads.
Grip:
The material we use is Aortha EVA, produced in the UK and exclusively purchased from the UK. It is a unique material for its mechanical and aging properties, and it is also suitable for skin contact, making it the most used material for podiatry applications worldwide. The Boom features two grades of this fine EVA, in a dual-density execution: high density along the entire outer perimeter of the Boom and the area of the Harness lines, and medium density for the remaining inner part. All sections are beveled and glued with an orientation such that the seams are not stressed by manual traction.
Protections:
Wear-resistant strips on the underside of the Harness line area
Rubber bumpers on the end
Solid rubber wear-resistant strips on the shoulders of the Boom to rig without damage on rough surfaces and asphalt

Like all HATROPINA products,
even this Boom has quality and performance standards that are significantly higher than the market average. Creating the lightest, stiffest, most durable, and high-performing Boom on the market was our goal (achieved). Again, we tested various prototypes extensively and carefully before going into production with the final version. The HATROPINA products break away from the mass product logic of "everything the same" of the major brands, and once again we turned to extremely capable manufacturers, with very high construction standards, who use the best materials and have meticulous, artisanal, and customized care of the final product
Our manufacturer creates its own Carbon Prepreg, a cornerstone of the entire process, creating a personalized and customized carbon production for the Boom Hatropina, with the main goal of producing the best stiffness/weight ratio. Each Boom is built individually with unique methods and a technologically advanced process, the final result is lightness, stiffness, ergonomics, and geometry. Boom diameter 24.5mm incredibly light, at the same time super stiff and surprises with the incredible reflex and drive. Assembled with ample preload for zero play. Safe, stiff, and stable even at full extension
Both the main body and the terminal are custom-built to achieve the correct distribution for a perfect balance between the front and rear hands. Additionally, each individual arm undergoes a final tensile test to ensure that the actual stiffness is true to the specifications. Note that the weight distribution is towards the front; where there is the connection and distribution of energy/power transmitted from the Board through the Mast. The lightweight rear section allows the rig to move freely without effort during maneuvers. This is in direct opposition to the usual constructions of other brands that, to give "added rigidity," make larger and heavier rear sections
